Baltimore retailer sells game’s fifth top prize in Maryland
Congratulations to the lucky player who became the fifth person in Maryland to win $1,000 a day for life, courtesy of the Cash4Life game.
The player bought the top-prize winning ticket in the Feb. 8 drawing at Chadwick Liquors located at 7005 Security Boulevard in Baltimore. The winner has the choice of $1,000 a day for life paid in annual installments of $365,000 (before taxes) or a one-time payment of $7 million (before taxes). Check your ticket for the winning numbers of 1, 5, 7, 30 and 36; the Cash Ball was 4. For selling the top-prize ticket, Chadwick Liquors will receive a $7,500 bonus from the Lottery.
Our top-prize winner wasn’t the only happy Cash4Life player in the drawing, which saw a total of 4,133 Maryland winners of prizes of $2 and up.
Winners have 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. Lottery officials strongly encourage winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and keep them in a safe location until claiming the prize.
Instructions on claiming prizes in person or by mail are available HERE. Players must redeem prizes larger than $25,000 by mail or at Lottery headquarters in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330 in Baltimore. The Lottery’s Claims Center in Baltimore is open by appointment only (no walk-ins). Click HERE to schedule an appointment.
On Sept. 1, 2022, a Cecil County pair claimed a top-prize winning Cash4Life ticket sold Aug. 29, 2022 by Eagles Nest gas station in Chesapeake City. In February 2020, “Bahama Mama” of Salisbury won the game’s top prize. William Brown of Pikesville won the top prize in the Aug. 7, 2017 drawing. And Maryland’s first top-tier winner in Cash4Life was a Frederick County Public Schools employee in the May 2, 2016 drawing.
The Maryland Lottery joined the Cash4Life game in January 2016, and there are now 10 states participating: Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Tennessee. Since the game began in June 2014, Cash4Life has had 64 top-prize winners and 170 second-tier winners.
Maryland has also had seven winners of the second-tier prize, which offers the option of $1,000 a week for life, paid in annual installments of $52,000, or a one-time payment of $1 million (both before taxes). Six other prize levels range from $2 to $2,500. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 8.
Cash4Life tickets are $2 for each line of six numbers. Drawings take place seven days a week at 9 p.m. and can be viewed live on mdlottery.com. The cutoff time for purchasing tickets is 8:45 p.m.
