Jumbo Cash instant ticket delivers another big win
She long ago made the Lottery part of her morning routine, an office worker from Cecil County explained to officials last week. Along with her coffee, she picks up a few scratch-offs on her way into work. The Jumbo Cash game she chose last Monday got her week off to one heck of a start, and the $250,000 top prize it inserted into her life is still, she noted, difficult to comprehend.
“I’ve always had luck with scratch tickets,” the secretary admitted, “but not big luck.” She added, “I’d daydream about a win like this, but never expected it to happen.”
Jumbo Cash is a $10 instant ticket. The game debuted in late April with five $250,000 top prizes; three remain. All four of its $50,000 second-tier prizes are still in circulation along with more than 650,000 other cash prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000. When asked why she chose Jumbo Cash to play last week, the winner could only point to one thing – the instant ticket’s color. “I think it might have been the purple, that’s a favorite.”
When our northern Maryland winner realized what she’d won, she told Lottery officials, she almost collapsed, right there in the Wawa in Aberdeen. “My legs all of a sudden got really weak. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to stay on my feet.” She phoned her husband, apologizing for the early hour.
“He works nights, so he was asleep when I left. After I was able to get through to him just how much we had won, he didn’t mind me waking him.”
This fun scene played out at the Wawa convenience store at 231 North Philadelphia Boulevard in Aberdeen. The Harford County business will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for having sold a top-prize winning scratch-off of $100,000 to $1 million.
