Anne Arundel County woman wins with a quick-pick ticket in Oct. 14 drawing
An Edgewater woman enjoys playing Lottery games quite often. Although she is a dedicated player, big prizes were eluding her until the Oct. 14 Powerball drawing rolled around.
This time, she had added Power Play and Double Play to her quick-pick ticket. Adding a few extra dollars to her bet wound up earning her a $50,000 payday.
The 46-year-old bought her ticket at Royal Farms #056 located at 301 Londontown Road in Edgewater. The Anne Arundel County resident told Lottery officials that she was a bit confused about her win. She was afraid that an error occurred because she didn’t see any of her numbers match the winning numbers. However, she had forgotten that her $4 ticket included a Double Play bet. The Double Play drawing follows the regular drawing, giving players a chance to win twice with the same numbers.
Lottery officials showed her the spot on her ticket that verified her selection of Double Play. After reviewing winning numbers selected in the Double Play drawing, she saw that she had matched four white balls and the Powerball for a $50,000 third-tier prize. This makes her the 11th third-tier Double Play Powerball winner this year.
The Anne Arundel County resident doesn’t have any major plans for her winnings except to pay off bills and save the rest of the prize. She’s worked in the procurement field for the past five years. When she’s not working or playing Lottery games, she enjoys spending her time cooking and hiking.
