Warehouse worker shocked to see X50 symbol
An avid angler from Baltimore County hooked a keeper when he bought a lucky MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off. The game carried a X50 symbol that resulted in a $50,000 payout.
The $10 instant ticket from the Maryland Lottery is licensed by Scientific Games, LLC. The big winner told Lottery officials that he likes to scratch off the numbers first on his games and then go back and scratch off the prize amount. The Dundalk resident revealed a X50 symbol and knew it was a good sign, as the symbol meant any prize underneath that number would increase 50 times.
“I thought it was going to be $10 under there. In that case, $500 would have been nice,” he said.
The fisherman discovered his prize was much more. He was in shock when he revealed a prize of $1,000, which increased 50X to the game’s second-tier prize of $50,000.
“I couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t expecting that much money,” he said.
The warehouse worker plans to use his windfall to pay bills. He purchased his winning instant ticket at Quick Mart 11, located at 7801 Wise Avenue in Dundalk.
MONOPOLY X50 went on sale last month and this is the first second-tier prize of $50,000 claimed. Two of the 10 top prizes of $100,000 were claimed by Hyattsville and Severna Park players. Nine second-tier prizes are still unclaimed, along with 24 $10,000 third-tier prizes.
The game is part of a Maryland Lottery family of MONOPOLY games and a MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion. Players can enter any of the six non-winning MONOPOLY scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win a rolling cash jackpot or cash prize. Six monthly drawings from February to July will award $5,000 prizes and rolling cash jackpots that start at $10,000 and grow until the drawing date.
