“Blue” of Dundalk, joined by a friend in the Lottery Winner’s Circle, won her $50,000 Pick 5 prize after playing the same number for years.
Player used relative’s birthday to secure $50,000 prize
Sleep was out of the question after a Baltimore County resident checked her Pick 5 numbers before bed only to discover her ticket matched the winning numbers in the Aug. 26 evening drawing. She won $50,000!
“It kept me up all night. I couldn’t go to sleep,” said “Blue,” who selected the nickname to maintain her anonymity.
The federal worker said her winning numbers were based on a relative’s birthday. She has played the five-digit number since the Lottery started offering Pick 5 in February 2022 and used the numbers for years in different variations for Pick 3 and Pick 4. The Dundalk woman placed her $1 straight bet on Aug. 26 while at Village Family Mart in Dundalk.
“I have played this number for 17 years,” said “Blue,” who celebrated her big win in the Lottery Winner’s Circle with a friend by her side. She plans to use the prize to pay bills and might add a home improvement project to her to-do list.
Another big winner is Village Family Mart, located at 12 North Dundalk Avenue. The Lottery will give the Baltimore County retailer a $500 bonus for selling a $50,000-winning ticket.
