Baltimore County resident wins top prize on Bonus Crossword
A Dundalk woman has a fun hobby of playing Bonus Crossword scratch-offs a few times a week. She has occasionally won small prizes of a few hundred dollars over the years but was in shock when she saw she had won the top prize of $30,000.
“I was excited. I didn’t know what to do,” she said.
According to the Baltimore County resident, she was at home playing the game and kept matching up her letters and the bonus letters on the crossword puzzle. She explained she kept ranking up words and suddenly had 10 words that resulted in the top prize.
The 68-year-old was a stay-at-home mother but all of her children are grown. She likes to spend time with her grandkids. She does not have plans on how she will spend the money, but will decide later.
“I am going to put it in the bank. It is the smart thing to do,” she said.
The Dundalk winner likes the $3 Bonus Crossword because it is a time killer and enjoys the challenge of matching up the letters with words. She enjoys real life crossword puzzles as well, and says she will continue to play the scratch-off games.
“I really enjoy Bonus Crossword now since it made me a winner,” she said with a smile.
The winning ticket was sold at Logan Liquors at 3441 Dundalk Avenue in Baltimore County. For selling the ticket, the Dundalk retailer will receive a $300 bonus.
Bonus Crossword began on Feb. 20, 2023. The Dundalk resident is the third top-prize winner with five $30,000 prizes remaining, along with prizes ranging from $3 to $5,000.
