Won $400, $50,000 in popular game
A Talbot County resident is celebrating a whirlwind 24-hour Pick 5 win-a-thon, enjoying prizes of $400 and then $50,000 he won in the new game.
The lucky player, who lives in Easton, says that he won the $400 first. The frequent player suggests that people treat their Lottery bets “like a relationship,” explaining, “You gotta be serious about your plays.”
The 79-year-old said he puts a lot of thought into the numbers that he plays. If one combination doesn’t work, he does not just switch to another set. There is a method to how he chooses his numbers and he also plays them multiple times in multiple variations.
The day he won his $50,000 prize was like any other. The loyal player went into R&R Beer, Wine & Liquor in Easton to purchase his $1 straight ticket for the March 28 midday drawing. He selected the numbers 4, 2, 3, 5, and 7 and says he knew, before leaving the store, that he won the $50,000 prize.
His wife was shocked when he told her the great news because she was still reeling from the $400 prize he won the day before. She was also amazed because, over the weekend before he won anything, her husband casually mentioned what bills he would pay with his winnings.
The happy man confirmed his plan to pay off some bills with his prize and to surprise his children with an unknown amount.
His lucky Talbot County retailer, which is located at 121 South Washington Street, will pick up a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Pick 5 ticket worth $50,000.
