Plans to use $50,000 prize to zero out family debt
A Mt. Airy resident who needed to clean his car windshield is $50,000 richer after adding a $500 Loaded Maryland Lottery scratch-off to purchase of windshield wiper fluid.
He found good fortune while running errands. Mt. Airy straddles the borders of several counties and the 53-year-old player visited a bank in Frederick to pick up cash and ended his journey at Four Corners Exxon in Mt. Airy, where he bought the fluid and winning $5 instant ticket.
“I nearly passed out in my car when I scratched it and saw how much I won,” he said on June 30, after claiming his prize.
The happy player returned home after discovering his top-prize win to talk with his wife about his Lottery luck. They decided to use the windfall to pay off debt as they brace for sending children to college. As for celebrations relating to the win, he said, “I’m going to celebrate when I see that zero balance.”
Also having reason to celebrate is Four Corners Exxon located at 4400 Mill Bottom Road. The Mt. Airy business earned a bonus of $500 from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the $500 Loaded game.
Plenty of prizes remain in this instant ticket, which is one of five scratch-offs in the Lottery’s Loaded Family of Games. Players can look for seven unclaimed top prizes, nine $5,000 prizes and more than 750,000 other prizes of $5 to $1,000.
