Former Angler Reels in Hefty Mega Millions Prize

Silver Spring man wins $30,036 prize on Quick Pick bet with Megaplier

A Silver Spring Mega Millions fan recently took home a $30,036 prize. While claiming his prize, he told Lottery officials that he plays only Mega Millions, and only when the jackpot begins to climb.

The Montgomery County resident bought his ticket at Wheaton Winery at 2211 University Blvd in Silver Spring. He spent $15 for five Quick-Pick lines for the March 7 drawing, and added the Megaplier option. Later that day, he checked the website and made the shocking discovery that he’d scored a $30,036 payday.

To win the third-tier prize, he matched four white balls and the Mega Ball for an initial $10,000 prize. The Megaplier multiplier was X3 for that drawing, which increased his prize to $30,000. In addition, he matched various combinations on other lines on the same ticket.

The happy winner is no stranger to big Lottery prizes. Around six years ago, he claimed a large Lottery prize from multiple Pick 4 winning tickets. He plans to save his recent windfall. For years, he was an avid angler with his own sport fishing boat. He was also an office manager for the federal government before his retirement.
