Money Money Money scratch-off yields $50,000 top-prize win
A Pick 3 player from Western Maryland who tried his luck with scratch-offs walked away a big winner. The Frederick County man won $50,000 playing the Money Money Money scratch-off!
The lucky man was getting off work as a packaging official last week when he decided to stop at Mountain View Convenience & Food Mart in Thurmont to play his regular Lottery games. While there, he noticed a long line of people purchasing scratch-offs and decided to get some games, too. He bought two of the $5 Money Money Money instant tickets and took them home to play. What was revealed was unforgettable.
“I wasn’t expecting to win anything big,” he said. “When I saw how much of a win it was, I was a little unsure.”
The father of grown children scratched the first of his two games and found a matching number. Beneath that number, staring back at him, was a whopping $50,000. The winner was in shock and took the instant ticket back to the Lottery retailer to confirm the size of his prize. The first person he thought to call with his great news was his daughter.
“He said he wanted to show me something,” said the winner’s daughter, who accompanied her dad to Lottery headquarters this week when he claimed the prize. “I was skeptical, but he said it had been confirmed.”
After sharing the news, the winner locked the Money Money Money instant ticket in a safe until he could claim the prize. He plans to use the funds to help his family members as needed and will save the rest of the windfall.
Also winning is the retailer that sold the lucky scratch-off. Mountain View Convenience & Food Mart located at 140 Frederick Road in Thurmont will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
The Money Money Money game that went on sale in March still has four $50,000 top prizes remaining as well as nine $5,000 prizes and hundreds of thousands of others ranging from $5 to $1,000.
