Germantown Man Anticipates Winning Big, Then Hits Lottery for $50,000

Stashes away second-tier prize on 100X The Cash game for future home purchase

“That feeling that one day you’ll hit big” is the reason a man from Germantown gave for why he enjoys playing Maryland Lottery games, and “hit big” is exactly what he did after buying a scratch-off while on the road in Cecil County.

The player, who claimed his $50,000 prize on June 4 on the $20 game 100X The Cash, bought the hot instant ticket at Royal Farms located at 500 Mechanics Valley Road in North East. He started to scratch it off, but then decided he needed to hit the road. The Montgomery County resident stashed the scratch-off in his pocket and forgot about it until the next day when he was at home. He finished scratching off the $20 instant ticket and realized its value.

“This looks nice!” he recalls thinking as the realization of hitting it big started to sink in.

Winning isn’t new for the Lottery regular. He’s hit before for amounts up to $500 and even once scored a $2,000 prize, but winning big is new. He likes the feeling, so when asked if he’ll continue playing, he said, “Most definitely!”

The loyal player plans to bank his windfall as part of a long-term plan to purchase a house.

The 100X The Cash game went on sale in January with seven $1 million top prizes; three are claimed. In addition, the game still has three of its six prizes at the $50,000 second-tier level along with a second-chance promotion. Two second-chance drawings in June and July will award players either $50,000 or $75,000 in prizes. Get details HERE.
