Jenelle Ballard of Glen Burnie looks forward to visiting her mom in Las Vegas, thanks to a $133,542 second-chance MONOPOLY prize.
Additional cash prizes still up for grabs in promotion through July
Jenelle Ballard of Glen Burnie started this week off with a little extra pep in her step, thanks to the MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion. She visited Lottery headquarters on March 17 to claim her $133,542 prize.
The excited winner was at work last week when she received a phone call telling her she was selected as the first MONOPOLY second-chance promotion rolling cash jackpot winner on March 11.
“I was so excited I couldn’t breathe. My boss came in and gave me a fist pump,” Jenelle said.
The Maryland Lottery family of MONOPOLY games from the Maryland Lottery and licensed by Scientific Games, LLC. went on sale Jan. 13, and include six tickets ranging in price from $1 to $30. Players who enter non-winning MONOPOLY scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards are automatically entered into the second-chance promotion for a chance to win a rolling cash jackpot or cash prize.
The Anne Arundel County resident told Lottery officials she plans to use the extra cash to pay off bills and to take a trip to see her mother in Las Vegas. The 58-year-old, who has worked for a grocery store for 16 years, usually works six days a week so she is especially looking forward to the vacation.
“My kids always tell me to throw my scratch-offs away, but I said to them, “‘those are points’,” she added, referring to the Lottery’s My Lottery Rewards program.
Jenelle is the first of three rolling cash jackpot winners. The jackpots start at $10,000 and grow until its drawing dates. The next rolling cash jackpot winner will be announced during the May 6 drawing, while five $5,000 winners will be selected each month through July 1. The next deadline for a $5,000 prize is April 7.
“I appreciate this. It is a life changer for me. This will help me a lot,” she said with a grin.
