Harford County Man Uses Random Numbers to Win $50K on Pick 5

Loyal player wins first big prize since he started playing in 1976

Random numbers from a sheet of paper helped a Harford County man secure a $50,000 prize on Pick 5.

According to the big winner, he saw his soon-to-be winning numbers on a piece of paper that he received from someone at work. He didn’t recall the importance of the paper and even the significance of those numbers, but he took a mental note of the number 99456. Later on, he saw that same five-digit number on a license plate. That was enough to persuade him to purchase a Pick 5 ticket.

“Something told me to try those numbers,” the factory worker said.

When he checked the results on the Aug. 12 evening drawing, he was amazed when he saw his numbers were drawn.

“I never won everything before. I just fell to my knees and cried,” said the loyal Lottery player, who said he has been playing since 1976.

He added he will use his prize to pay off bills.

The Harford County man considers himself “lucky” as he noted he does not play his numbers every day and was fortunate that it came out during one of the times that he played.

Wine World, located at 406 Constant Friendship Boulevard in Abingdon, is also fortunate that he won as the Harford County retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the ticket.
