Washington, D.C. resident claims second-tier prize on $30 game
A Maryland Lottery fan who is enjoying a months-long winning streak added a $50,000 prize to his record after buying a $30 Mega Money instant ticket.
The Washington, D.C. resident, who adopted the nickname “Hot Streak” to reflect his run of Lottery luck, has played Lottery games for as long as he can remember. Over the past few months, he told Lottery officials, he’s been riding a wave of good fortune and winning prizes almost every time he plays. “Hot Streak” purchased his winning Mega Money instant ticket along with several other scratch-offs at the 7-Eleven located at 4450 Solomons Island Road in Harwood. He then headed home.
When he scratched off his instant tickets, “Hot Streak” soon realized he had won $50,000. “I wasn’t surprised because I’ve been winning so much,” he said with a smile. “But, I was surprised by the amount of money. It’s such a blessing.”
“Hot Streak” plans to pay bills with his winnings and save the majority of his prize.
The Mega Money scratch-off, which went on sale on April 22, 2024, offers lots of remaining prizes. Still available are four $2 million top prizes, six additional second-tier $50,000 prizes and others ranging from $30 to $5,000.
