Edgewood woman takes home $50,000 prize
A Harford County woman is extremely grateful today after visiting Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize. The fortunate lady’s husband randomly chose the lucky numbers that led to her big win.
The 60-year-old grandmother is a Bonus Match 5 fan and plays often. One day last week, she was out and about and remembered that she wanted to play Bonus Match 5 for that day and some other Lottery games. She stopped at the Royal Farms in Edgewood and used numbers given to her by her husband to play the popular game. She later checked her ticket at home, with her husband, revealing the big win from the drawing on Friday, Aug. 11.
“We had one, then two, then three numbers and it kept going,” said the winner’s husband who accompanied his wife to claim the prize. “We just couldn’t believe we matched all five numbers.”
The lucky player said she scanned the ticket numerous times to make sure it was truly a winner.
“Over and over again, I kept scanning that ticket,” smiled the winner. “And each time it said to go to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize.”
The winner did just that and claimed her $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize ticket this week. The majority of the prize money will be used to pay off bills.
The winning ticket was purchased from the Royal Farms #065, located at 630 Edgewood Road in Edgewood. For selling the top-prize ticket, the Harford County retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
