Frederick County man wins top prize on Peppermint Payout game
His wife, who is the scratch-off player in the family, shared her love of Lottery games with her husband in a big way this holiday season. The Frederick County resident said he opened a gift from her on Christmas Day and found it included a Peppermint Payout scratch-off.
That wasn’t the best part of the surprise, however. When he scratched off the $3 game, the husband realized he won a $30,000 top prize. This was the first scratch-off win of his life!
“I had to go back a couple of times to be sure it was right,” he said. The lucky man had his wife check over the game, too, to confirm the win. He has played scratch-offs before without any luck, he said, so this big win is very welcome.
As for spending the prize money, the winner said he and his wife haven’t made any decisions yet. The funds may go to pay off some bills.
The lucky $3 scratch-off was sold at Weis Markets #179 located at 2 Thurmont Boulevard in Thurmont. For selling a $30,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the Frederick County grocery will receive a $300 bonus from the Lottery.
The Peppermint Payout game, which went on sale in October 2022, still has lots of prizes remaining, including three more $30,000 top prizes that haven’t yet been claimed, along with, 438 unclaimed $500 prizes and more than 440,000 others ranging from $3 to $100.
