Lifelong Maryland Lottery player says real estate investment is in his future
An Eastern Shore player from the outskirts of Chestertown in Kent County says he has enjoyed winning relatively small prizes over the years, but he really enjoyed winning $50,000 on a recent Bonus Match 5 drawing.
The winner plays nine sets of numbers, chosen based on dates and ages associated with his four grandchildren. “It’s fun,” he said. “I’ve been doing it all my life.”
His previous biggest win was $125. He bought the winning ticket for seven drawings at Suds ‘n’ Soda, which is located at 1014 Washington Avenue in Chestertown. After the June 20 Bonus Match 5 drawing, he was checking his tickets using the Lottery mobile app. When the hefty prize flashed on his phone, he said, “I took a double take and thought, ‘I won again!’”
The winner said he plans to invest his prize, most likely in real estate. Suds ‘n’ Soda also benefits from its lucky sale. The store receives a Lottery bonus of $500, equal to 1% of the prize, for selling a top-prize winning ticket in the game.
