Retailers sell four big winning tickets in Bonus Match 5, FAST PLAY and Powerball games
Lady Luck spread the love around the state on Mother’s Day weekend, delivering wins of $1 million and $50,000 in Powerball on Saturday, a $50,000 top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 win on Sunday and a Monday morning $224,936 FAST PLAY Lucky Numbers win.
The two Powerball wins kicked off the Maryland Lottery fun. Maryland was one of three states to have a $1 million second-tier winner in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing and had one of 33 $50,000 third-tier winners. No one hit the jackpot, which rolled to $168 million for the Wednesday, May 12 drawing. The winning numbers to match were 12, 17, 20, 21 and 26; the Powerball was 8 and the Power Play multiplier was 2.
Check your Powerball tickets for the May 8 drawing if you bought them in Anne Arundel or Prince George’s counties. The $1 million winning ticket hails from Giant #2312 located at 6626 North Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. The grocery store earns a $2,500 bonus from the Lottery for the sale. Selling the $50,000 winning Powerball ticket was Marlboro Country Liquors located at 14808 Main Street in Upper Marlboro. The ticket sold in Prince George’s County was the 23rd $50,000 Powerball winner in Maryland this year.
The Bonus Match 5 win came next in Takoma Park, where a lucky player bought the top-prize winning ticket in the Sunday, May 9 drawing. The lucky numbers to match were 2, 3, 11, 35 and 36; the Bonus Ball was 18. Lottery retailer West Express at 6400 New Hampshire Avenue in Montgomery County was the site of this big win. The store earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery for its lucky sale, which was the 21st top-prize winner this year for Bonus Match 5.
The winning weekend didn’t seem to want to end: On Monday, May 10, the FAST PLAY Lucky Numbers game produced a $224,936 progressive jackpot. This is the game’s 15th progressive jackpot prize, and there are still 25 more waiting to be won. Race-N In at 26755 Stone Corner Lane in Mechanicsville, which sold the lucky ticket, earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. The Lucky Numbers progressive jackpot starts at $100,000 and increases with the purchase of each ticket until a jackpot-winner is sold.
Lottery officials encourage the winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. Winners get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes.
