Laurel Resident Can’t Stop Smiling after $100,000 Scratch-off Win

Takes home top prize on $100,000 Crossword 8th Edition game

An anonymous player, who chose to go by the moniker “Alex the Great,” has a permanent smile on his face since winning a $100,000 top prize on the 8th Edition of the $100,000 Crossword game. He told Lottery officials when he claimed his prize last week that he just cannot stop grinning!

“I’ve been playing the Lottery for years,” said “Alex the Great.” “I enjoy trying out different games because they all offer different ways to win and have fun.”

On the day he received his big dose of Lottery luck, “Alex the Great” was at All Saints Liquors in Laurel purchasing snacks and drinks for his family. The Laurel resident decided to add a few scratch-offs to his purchase. Later, after enjoying a meal at home, he scratched off his games and quickly realized he had a winner. However, he was unsure of the prize amount so he returned to the retailer for assistance.

The news was amazing! “I stood there in shock,” he recalled. The most “Alex the Great” had ever won before was a few thousand dollars, so learning he had secured the $100,000 top prize left him speechless.

When asked what he plans to do with his winnings, “Alex the Great” revealed that buying a home is at the top of his list. He also plans to continue playing Lottery games, adding, “I want to win $1,000,000 next!”

In addition to “Alex the Great’s” big win, the retailer that sold the lucky ticket is also a winner. All Saints Liquors located at 9105 All Saints Road in Laurel will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.

The 8th Edition of the $100,000 Crossword game went on sale in June with 10 $100,000 top prizes. There are eight still unclaimed, along with 11 $10,000 prizes and hundreds of thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
