Baltimore resident claims top prize on $5 scratch-off
A Maryland Lottery player from Baltimore is $50,000 richer after scratching off an instant ticket that’s been available for about two months, but is nearly one-third sold out.
The lucky man’s top prize came on the $5 Lots of Cash game. The popular scratch-off went on sale June 17, but is already more than 31 percent sold. He claimed the prize Aug. 26 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The $50,000 win was the game’s fourth top prize claimed, leaving another four available to players along with 10 $5,000 second-tier prizes and others ranging from $5 to $1,000. The winner hadn’t made any plans yet for his prize. He said only that he wanted to keep his Lottery luck a low-key affair, telling as few people as possible about his windfall.
He bought the winning scratch-off at Lowest Price Grocery, 3900 Frederick Avenue in Baltimore. The retailer receives a Lottery bonus of $500, equal to 1% of the windfall, for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
