Newlyweds plan to buy a new car with their prize
A newly married couple has reason to celebrate after winning $100,000 from the MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, recently visited Maryland Lottery headquarters with her husband to share their story.
The couple, who only recently began playing the Lottery, were thrilled by the unexpected windfall. The wife has enjoyed some success with games like Pick 5 and FAST PLAY, while her husband’s wins have been more sporadic. Their Lottery journey took an exciting turn when she saw a Maryland Lottery MONOPOLY commercial while watching television. Intrigued, she decided to try her luck with the new game.
The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 4315 Annapolis Road in Halethorpe. Using money from a previous win, she bought a few tickets before heading home for lunch with her husband.
As she scratched the tickets, she was stunned to see the winning numbers. Overcome with excitement, she asked her husband to double check the ticket. After verifying the win on the Lottery app, it was confirmed — the ticket was indeed a $100,000 winner.
“I could not believe my eyes,” shared the ecstatic winner.
The lucky newlyweds kept the big news a secret until they could safely claim their prize. Asked how they planned to use the money, the two looked at each other and almost simultaneously responded, “A new car.” Any remaining funds will be put into savings for their future together.
The Baltimore County retailer who sold the winning ticket also wins. The 7-Eleven sore will receive a $1,000 bonus.
There are seven $100,000 top-prizes remaining on the MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off. In addition, there are nine $50,000 prizes remaining and numerous lower-tier prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000.
Th MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off went on sale on Jan. 13 as part of a Maryland Lottery family of MONOPOLY games and a MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion. Players can enter any of the six non-winning MONOPOLY scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win a rolling cash jackpot or cash prize. Six monthly drawings from February to July will award $5,000 prizes and rolling cash jackpots that start at $10,000 and grow until the drawing date.
