Second-chance winners enjoy chance to see Lamar Jackson make history
Three Maryland Lottery Ravens second-chance promotion winners and their guests enjoyed a VIP whirlwind weekend as they traveled with the Baltimore Ravens to watch them take on the New York Giants. The winners received tickets to the Dec. 15 game, traveled on the team train, and enjoyed hotel accommodations, a meet-and-greet with players and received $1,000 spending money.
Raymond and Debbie Jones were the first to arrive at M&T Bank Stadium this past Saturday. They took the trek from Salisbury to Baltimore. Winners were due to arrive at 12:15 p.m. “We got here at 10 a.m.,” they said. “We didn’t want to chance being late!”
Next to arrive were Lenny and Darlene Brown from Woodstock. They quickly struck up a conversation with the Jones’, and it was clear they were going to become fast friends.
After Riverdale resident Juan Garcia and his daughter Melanie arrived, a luxury shuttle transported everyone to Penn Station in Baltimore to kick off the fun.
The winners and their guests hopped on a chartered train with Ravens players, coaches, team staff and members of the media. During the train ride, everyone enjoyed lunch, snacks and a meet-and-greet with three Ravens players. Defensive tackle Travis Jones, linebacker Tavius Robinson and offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten made their way to the winners’ train car, struck up conversation and graciously took photos.
After the train dropped the team off at its hotel in New Jersey, Lenny, Jose, Raymond and their guests continued on to their five-star hotel in New York City. They had the rest of the evening free to explore the city.
The next morning, the winners’ bus caught up with the team buses, and with police escort, they headed to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Winners enjoyed pre-game sideline passes before heading to their seats in the lower level.
Then, they watched Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson make NFL history by notching the sixth game of his career with at least five touchdown passes and no interceptions. The only two quarterbacks in NFL history with more such performances are Tom Brady and Drew Brees. The game also marked the fifth game in Jackson’s career that he threw at least five touchdown passes with five or fewer incompletions. No other quarterback in NFL history has more than three such performances.
Juan summed it up perfectly by saying “I will never forget this trip.”
