Westminster retailer sells third-tier prize-winning ticket
A Sykesville man made a $50,000 winning trip to Winfield Liquors in Westminster in January. The 61-year-old tried his luck in the Jan. 16 Powerball drawing and became one of two Marylanders to land the third-tier prize in the game.
The Carroll County resident had bought a $4 quick-pick ticket at the Lottery retailer, which is located on West Liberty Road in Westminster. The winning numbers for the drawing were 14, 20, 39, 65 and 67 with a Powerball of 2. The lucky player, who just claimed his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters, saw that his ticket matched all of the numbers drawn except one ball.
Powerball drawings take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays, giving players plenty of time to buy a ticket for the Saturday, Feb. 20 drawing. The jackpot is $78 million with a $57.1 million lump-sum cash option.
