Western Maryland woman claims $560,000 Multi-Match jackpot
Making birthday plans can be tedious, especially when it comes to finding the funds to pay for a party. Having enough cash for a grand celebration won’t be an issue for a lucky Cumberland woman, who just collected a $560,000 Multi-Match jackpot prize only weeks before her birthday.
The Western Maryland player purchased her winning ticket at Sheetz, located at 2045 Bedford Road in Cumberland. She frequently stops there to buy Lottery tickets. The Allegany County resident purchased a quick-pick ticket for two drawings on July 15 and July 18. The very next day, the lucky winner’s daughter told her that the Multi-Match jackpot was hit and that she should check her ticket. After doing so at a Lottery retailer, the loyal player was quite happy to see the “notify Lottery” message flash up on the screen.
The retired administrative assistant says her first order of business is birthday fun and that’ll be a major priority for her winnings. Next up, she says, is providing financial help as needed to her family and friends.
It’s not Sheetz’ birthday, but management at the store can certainly celebrate, too. The Lottery will give the store a $1,000 bonus for selling a jackpot-winning Multi-Match ticket of $500,000 to $1 million.
The Multi-Match ticket sold in Cumberland was the game’s sixth jackpot winner of 2024. The first five were:
- March 25 at Klein’s Shop Rite in Belcamp ($2.1 million)
- April 29 at St. Paul Mini Mart in Baltimore ($660,000)
- May 30 at Wawa in Adelphi ($580,000)
- June 3 at Royal Farms in Glen Burnie ($500,000)
- June 20 at Four Corners Exxon in Mt. Airy ($540,000)
