Glen Burnie man claims $36,788.90 prize on Superfecta Box bet
An Anne Arundel County man who plays Lottery games regularly decided to tweak his Racetrax strategy in hopes of winning more than his recent $9,500 prize. His plan worked! He just claimed a $36,788.90 prize won on a Superfecta Box bet.
The avid player typically bets on the 8, 9, 10 and 11 horses to finish in first, second, third and fourth place in any order. But this time, while at the Soda Pop Shop Mart in Glen Burnie, he swapped the number 10 horse for the number 12 horse. He placed a Superfecta Box bet for 20 races on horses 8, 9, 11 and 12.
The 50-year-old told Lottery officials that he never stays to watch the races. He prefers to be surprised later by the results. After placing his winning bet, the Glen Burnie resident went home and went to sleep. “I was very surprised when I woke up and checked the numbers,” the lucky player said.
He shared the great news only with his wife. When asked of his plans for the $36,788.90 prize, the loyal player said he believes in giving back and plans to share the windfall with close family members. He’s been working as a barber for 35 years and enjoys listening to music when he’s not working or playing Lottery games.
His lucky Lottery retailer, Soda Pop Shop Mart located at 337 Hospital Drive, will receive a $367.88 bonus for its role in selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
