Washington County man claims $50,000 prize on Joker’s Wild instant ticket
While out having lunch one afternoon, a Western Maryland resident decided to treat himself to two scratch-offs. Preferring $3 and $5 instant tickets, he ended up with two $5 Joker’s Wild scratch-offs and discovered one was a $50,000 top-prize winner.
The anonymous player resides in a small town south of Hagerstown. He bought the instant tickets at Battleview Market in Sharpsburg, a Lottery retailer that he frequently visits. Initially, it seemed there was no hope for a win after the first scratch-off failed to reveal a prize. When he got to the second instant ticket, the loyal player found no matches between the winning numbers and the “your numbers” section. He did, however, reveal a “joker” symbol for the $50,000 score.
“My heart was pounding,” the happy Washington County man recalled. He phoned family members and friends shortly afterward to share the great news. The scratch-off fan works in agriculture and is still considering plans for his windfall.
Battleview Market located 5331 Sharpsburg Pike is also a winner. The Washington County business will collect a $500 Lottery bonus for selling the $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off. Joker’s Wild went on sale in July with eight $50,000 top prizes; two remain along with smaller prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
