Scores second-tier prize on $30 scratch-off
Angela of Damascus is celebrating a thrilling $50,000 win after trying his luck with a MONOPOLY X200 scratch-off from the Maryland Lottery and licensed by Scientific Games, LLC. The anonymous player, who agreed to use his first name to tell the story of his exciting win, recently switched his entertainment choice from casino games to instant tickets. That change of game paid off when he landed the biggest prize of his life.
Angela purchased the $30 instant ticket at a 7-Eleven located at 8946 North Westland Drive in Gaithersburg. Drawn to the instant ticket’s vibrant colors and nostalgic appeal, he scratched it off and then scanned it to check for a prize. When he realized he had won, Angela went into shock.
“I was floored. I never imagined seeing all that money come from a scratch-off,” said the Montgomery County resident.
While he hasn’t made any definite plans for his winnings, Angela will save most of the money. As for his future Lottery gaming plans, he says he will continue playing $20 and up scratch-offs because he believes the chances of winning are higher. He’s also eager to try other Lottery games like Pick 5 and Racetrax.
The MONOPOLY X200 scratch-off, which went on sale Nov. 27, 2024, has three top prizes of $2,000,000 remaining, four unclaimed $50,000 prizes and eight available $10,000 prizes along with others ranging from $30 to $5,000. The scratch-off is part of a family of MONOPOLY-themed games and a MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion. Players can enter any of the six non-winning MONOPOLY scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win a rolling cash jackpot or cash prize. Six monthly drawings from February to July will award $5,000 prizes and rolling cash jackpots that start at $10,000 and grow until the drawing date.
