“Orioles Fan” of Delaware was purchasing FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Bases Loaded tickets with the hopes of being selected as a Contestant of the Game. He couldn’t believe he won the game’s $136,810 progressive jackpot.
Contestant of the Game promotion continues with Home Run Riches Walk-Off Winnings ticket
A Delaware man likes to purchase FAST PLAY Home Run Riches tickets so he enter them into the Contestant of the Game promotion. He has the same strategy as many baseball fans, but his idea gave him more than he bargained for as he was the lucky fan that hit the $136,810 progressive jackpot on the game.
The former Harford County resident, who goes by the alias “Orioles Fan”, said he is a loyal player to the game. “I try to buy as many tickets as I can grab,” he explained.
On Monday, “Orioles Fan” was in the process of purchasing four $5 tickets, but the machine at the store only produced two tickets. He was thinking of going to another location to purchase two more tickets but decided two tickets was enough for the day.
When he looked at his ticket, he saw the number 32 matched with the “progressive jackpot” symbol of 32 for the big prize.
Since the $136,810 ticket was the final progressive jackpot prize in that game, the Home Run Riches Bases Loaded game closed as soon as that big winner was printed, which explains why he was only able to purchase two tickets.
“Orioles Fan” said he enters his tickets into his My Lottery Reward account and has the ritual of watching every Orioles game with the hope that he is selected for as the Contestant of the Game. A Contestant of the Game is randomly chosen for every Orioles regular-season game, for a total of 162 winners. Winners receive $500 for being selected, another $500 for each home run hit by an Orioles player during their designated game and $5,000 for an Orioles grand slam.
The retired nurse was hoping to be selected and to have the Orioles hit some home runs for him for a couple thousand dollars. He never envisioned winning the $136,810 progressive jackpot.
“I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t expect this at all,” he told Lottery officials. The winning ticket was purchased in Fallston at Harvest Fare at 2315 Belair Road. The Harford County retailer also gets some of the baseball action as they will receive a bonus of $1,368.10, equal to 1% of the prize total.
This win helps close out our Home Run Riches Bases Loaded game, which started last baseball season.
Now all eyes turn to our latest FAST PLAY game, Home Run Riches Walk-Off Winnings. The $5 game has all 15 progressive jackpots still available and the current jackpot was set over $57,000 as of Thursday afternoon. There are also lower-tier prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
Players can enter winning and non-winning FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Walk-Off Winnings tickets into My Lottery Rewards and receive entries into the Contestant of the Game second-chance promotion until August 25. Remaining drawings for selecting Contestants of the Game are scheduled April 22, May 27, June 24, July 29 and Aug. 26.
