Wins progressive jackpot in Home Run Riches Bases Loaded game
A major Orioles fan from Queen Anne’s County just hit a grand slam playing the FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Bases Loaded game. He scored a $137,278 progressive jackpot prize on the $5 ticket.
The anonymous winner was on his way home from work last week when he decided to visit Shore Stop in Stevensville for a beverage to quench his thirst. He had not planned to purchase scratch-offs that day, but decided to when the Lottery vending machine caught his eye.
“I went over, but the machine was out of $5 and $10 scratch-off games,” said the winner. “So, I figured it’s O’s season, I’ll grab some of those FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Bases Loaded games.”
The player chose two of the $5 tickets. He knew that even if the tickets were not winners, he could enter them into the My Lottery Rewards “Contestant of the Game” second-chance promotion. Contestants receive $500 for being selected, $500 for every Orioles home run hit in their game and $5,000 for every Orioles grand slam hit in their game.
The Lottery fan left the store and checked his games for a win while sitting in his car. To his surprise, one of the FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Bases Loaded tickets won the jackpot.
“I knew instantly it was a winner,” he said, after claiming the prize at Lottery headquarters this week. “I still went back inside to confirm it.”
The lucky man later shared his winning news with his parents, who were both excited and happy for their son. “I was in shock,” said the winner’s father, who accompanied the player to claim the prize. “I was always doubtful that people actually win playing the Lottery.”
The happy player plans to buy a new car with some of his windfall and will save the rest of funds.
The FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Bases Loaded game offers players the chance to win a jackpot that grows with the sale of each ticket until a winning ticket is sold. There are still 11 progressive jackpots remaining in the game, along with instant prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
Also hitting a home run is the lucky Lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket. Shore Stop, located at 201 Romancoke Road in Stevensville, will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a jackpot-winning ticket of $100,000 or more.
