Buying a new vehicle for his wife is in the future for Charles Reed of Frederick, who won a $50,000 top prize on a Ca$h Plu$ scratch-off.
Frederick man claims $50,000 prize on Ca$h Plu$ instant ticket
Charles Reed of Frederick has a close friend to thank for an unconventional way of deciding when to buy Lottery tickets. He was told that if he ever found a penny lying heads up, he should place it in his shoe. After finding a heads-up penny recently, he actually placed it on a counter only to have it fall, at some point, inside his shoe.
Charles told Lottery officials that it was with the penny in his shoe that he went out and bought a Ca$h Plu$ scratch-off at a High’s store in New Market. His penny-loafer influenced scratch-off purchase gave him a $50,000 top prize.
This is actually a second top-prize win for the Frederick County resident. He claimed a $100,000 top prize on a Ravens instant ticket around this time last year, purchasing that scratch-off from the same High’s store. Not only does he only buy from one Lottery retailer, but Charles is also strict with his Lottery play. He only buys $20 worth of $5 scratch-offs each month. His lucky Ca$h Plu$ game is a $5 instant ticket.
Last year’s big win helped the lucky pool technician afford a new truck. This time, Charles says, it’s his wife’s turn for a vehicle upgrade. He’ll use his winnings to buy his wife a new car.
His lucky Lottery retailer wins big, too! High’s located at 11780 Old National Pike in New Market will collect a $500 bonus for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off. The Ca$h Plu$ game went on sale in August with seven top prizes; four remain. This game is also still packed with smaller prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
