Anne Arundel County woman takes home game’s top prize
A trip to the store to purchase some items for New Year’s Eve led to a $30,000 scratch-off win for an Anne Arundel County woman. She and her partner stopped at South River Liquors on Saturday to buy New Year’s Eve libations and decided to purchase scratch-offs. A Peppermint Payout Multiplier game delivered the sweet top-prize win.
The scratch-off fans each bought a variety of games, including several holiday-themed instant tickets. They stopped to grab dinner and went home to eat and play their games.
“I had two Peppermint Payout games and it was the very last ticket that was the winner,” said the lucky player. “I scanned it a couple of times, but still was in shock.”
The big winner wanted to confirm her Lottery luck so she showed the scratch-off to her partner and had her scan it a third time.
“It definitely said $30,000,” recalled the winner’s partner, smiling. She accompanied the lucky player to Lottery headquarters this week to claim her prize. “It really is such a blessing.”
The two, who have four children and grandchildren between them, said they will pay bills with the prize, relocate and use some of the winnings toward a trip to Disney World.
Also celebrating is the lucky Lottery retailer in Edgewater that sold the $30,000 top-prize winning ticket. South River Liquors located at 3204 Solomons Island Road receives a $300 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for its role in the big win.
The holidays are over, but the Peppermint Payout Multiplier instant ticket still has gifts to give. There are three $30,000 top prizes remaining on the game as well as 516 $500 prizes and many more ranging from $3 to $100. This game is among those eligible for the Holiday Cash promotion, too, which has its final drawings on Jan. 9 and Jan. 16. Players can try to win $50,000 or $100,000 by entering non-winning holiday-themed scratch-offs and two FAST PLAY holiday-themed tickets into My Lottery Rewards.
