Stopping for gas and scratch-offs gave this Western Maryland resident a $50,000 cash infusion.
Washington County man finds top prize on $5 Ca$h To Go! instant ticket
A stop for gas while traveling to an area festival to enjoy live music has Dennis Manning of Rohrersville humming a winner’s tune. Although buying a Lottery scratch-off was just an afterthought, the Washington County resident is $50,000 richer! He won a top prize in the Ca$h to Go! game.
Dennis stopped for gas at AC&T #170 located at 719 North Main Street in Boonsboro. After fueling up, he decided on a whim to spend $20 on scratch-offs. The 44-year-old bought one $10 MONOPOLY™ X50 game, one $5 Ravens X5 instant ticket and the lucky $5 Ca$h To Go! scratch-off. The regular player didn’t bother scratching off the play area on his three games. Instead, as he does with all of his instant tickets, Dennis scratched off the prize check areas and scanned each game’s barcode for a win.
“I went blank,” he said, once he realized he held a $50,000 winning scratch-off. His Lottery luck was an even greater surprise because he initially thought he won $5,000 and was already a happy camper.
Dennis has already shared his winning news with family members. When asked of his plans for his prize, he said he would pay off debts.
The lucky Western Maryland man won one of the first $50,000 top prizes in the Ca$h To Go! game. The instant ticket went on sale in December with eight top prizes. His lucky retailer, AC&T #170 in Washington County, earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
