Harford County man plans to save prize for retirement
A scratch-off fan’s Lottery luck gave him a sizzling $1 million top prize on the $20 Hot 777 scratch-off.
The new millionaire said he regularly plays scratch-offs on the weekend and added the Hot 777 game to his purchases when it went on sale in April. The Harford County winner purchased three scratch-offs one lucky day at Fallston Liquors. When he exited the store and started to scratch off his games, he discovered his third instant ticket won big.
“I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. I am still in shock,” he said.
The lucky player has only told his wife and his lawyer about this big win. He works in manufacturing and is nearing retirement. Since he already paid off his home mortgage, the loyal player plans to save his winnings. “This money will go toward my retirement,” he explained.
His Lottery retailer, Fallston Liquors, is located at 1702 Harford Road in Fallston. The Harford County business will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $1 million top-prize winning scratch-off.
The $20 Hot 777 scratch-off went on sale on April 24 and became one of the hottest games on the market. It’s now the second most popular scratch-off at the Maryland Lottery.
This is the first of its $1 million top-prize winning instant tickets sold; five top prizes remain. All five $50,000 prizes are awaiting discovery along with 154 $10,000 prizes and others ranging from $20 to $5,000. The Hot 777 instant ticket joins a family of games that went on sale May 22: the $1 Hot 7s, $2 Hot 7s Doubler, $5 Red Hot Cash and $10 Hot 7s Multiplier scratch-offs.
