Players Win $1,000 a Week for Life, $150,000 in Holiday Drawings

$1,000-a-Week-for-Life second-tier Cash4Life winner was third of 2024

Two Maryland Lottery players are starting 2025 on a positive financial note after winning $1,000 a week — $52,000 a year — for life on a Cash4Life ticket and $150,000 on a Powerball ticket with Power Play. The winning tickets were sold in Edgewood and Arbutus.

A Cash4Life player purchased that winning ticket at Edgewood Liquors, Grocery & Deli at 2200 Philadelphia Road in Harford County. The Edgewood winner matched the first five balls that were selected in the New Year’s Eve drawing on Dec. 31 to secure a second-tier win.

The winning numbers in the Dec. 31 Cash4Life drawing were 10, 21, 27, 31 and 48; the Cash Ball was 2. The winner can choose between a $1,000-a-week-for-life annuity paid in annual installments of $52,000 a year, or a one-time payment of $1 million (prize amounts are before taxes). The Edgewood retailer will receive a bonus of $2,500 for selling the second-tier winning ticket.

This was the third $1,000-a-week-for-life Cash4Life prize won in 2024 and the 11th since 2016, when the game became available in Maryland.

The third-tier winning Powerball ticket was sold on Jan. 1, New Year’s Day, at the Arbutus High’s #018 located at 1075 Maiden Choice Lane in Baltimore County.

The winning numbers for last night’s Powerball drawing were 6, 12, 28, 35 and 66; the Powerball was 26 and the Power Play multiplier was x3. Since our winner opted to add Power Play, the third-tier prize of $50,000 tripled to $150,000.

Since there were no jackpot winners, the estimated annuity for the Saturday, Jan. 4 Powerball drawing is $200 million with an estimated cash option of $90.7 million.

All winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing. Instructions on claiming prizes in person or by mail are online under the Claim a Prize link at the top of the Lottery webpage. Players must redeem prizes larger than $25,000 by mail or at the Lottery Claims Center in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330 in Baltimore.
