Jackpot rises to estimated annuity of $935 million for Saturday’s drawing
The Powerball jackpot rolled again Wednesday night after creating 33,193 winners in Maryland of prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000. The estimated annuity rocketed to $935 million, which is the fifth-largest prize in Powerball’s history.
The Maryland Lottery is looking for the lucky player who bought a third-tier winning ticket worth $50,000 at Chase Plaza Liquors, which is located at 12546 Eastern Avenue in Middle River. The winning numbers to match were 37, 46, 57, 60 and 66; the Powerball was 8.
Lottery officials encourage winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. They get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. Players must redeem prizes larger than $25,000 by mail or at Lottery headquarters in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330 in Baltimore. Maryland is home to three Powerball jackpot wins: $731.1 million in January 2021 (Lonaconing, Allegany County); $128.8 million in December 2011 (Elkton, Cecil County) and $108.8 million in September 2011 (Abingdon, Harford County).
In 2024, the state has now sold three $1 million second-tier winning tickets, 12 third-tier winning tickets worth $50,000 to $100,000 and two $50,000-winning Double Play tickets. In 2023, the state has now sold five $1 million second-tier winning tickets, one $500,000 second-tier Double Play ticket, 78 third-tier winning tickets worth $50,000 to $150,000 and 11 third-tier Double Play tickets of $50,000 and up.
The last Powerball jackpot win of $842.4 million took place on Jan. 1 in Michigan. Nationally, players won prizes on more than 1.7 million tickets in the March 27 drawing. During the current jackpot roll, Maryland players have won $6,898,324 in prizes while the estimated state revenue from Powerball sales rose to $8,457,262. Total Maryland Powerball sales during this roll reached $32,780,088.
