A longtime Lottery enthusiast from Prince George’s County known as “Romeo” found his match – his winning Bonus Match 5 match, that is! He won a $50,000 top prize in the game’s Oct. 26 drawing on a quick-pick ticket.
“Romeo,” who has played Lottery games for more than 30 years, stopped by Lottery headquarters to share the story of his lucky win.
The frequent traveler often purchases Lottery tickets wherever his journey takes him. On the fateful day in October that he bought his winning Bonus Match 5 ticket, he also tried his luck with Pick 3 and Pick 5 tickets. While those tickets didn’t yield any stunning results, his Bonus Match 5 ticket delivered life-changing news.
“When I scanned the ticket the next day, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” “Romeo” said. “The screen read, ‘$50,000 winner.’”
While many might celebrate immediately, “Romeo” took a more measured approach. “I kept my cool and put my poker face on so I wouldn’t draw attention to myself,” he said. “I don’t think I’ll truly celebrate until the money is in my account.”
When asked about his plans for the windfall, “Romeo” said he plans to invest some of the funds, purchase a car and take his children shopping for the holidays.
“Romeo’s” win also brings good fortune to Al’s Beer & Wine in Oxon Hill, the lucky retailer that sold the winning ticket. Located at 6224 Oxon Hill Road, the Prince George’s County store will receive a Lottery bonus of $500 for its role in his memorable win.
