Prince George’s County man claims top prize on Lucky Times 10 scratch-off
A 66-year-old Hyattsville resident is riding high after scoring a $100,000 top-prize scratch-off win. The weekly player enjoys trying his luck with a variety of Lottery games but said his favorites are Pick 4 and scratch-offs like the Lucky Times 10 instant ticket.
His road to riches started at his favorite Lottery retailer, the Exxon station located at 7545 Landover Road in Landover. The retired Metro employee went into the business to play Pick 4 and won $10, which he used to purchase the $10 Lucky Times 10 scratch-off. As a lifetime player, the Prince George’s County resident has had success in the past and credits experience for his newfound win.
“I take the same approach each time I play,” he said. “I always win something even if its small.”
After he purchased his instant ticket, the player went home to spend the evening with his family. He sat down and scratched off his instant ticket and initially thought it read $100. Then, he got his glasses and realized the prize was actually much more than he could have imagined!
“I screamed and shouted, ‘I can’t believe this!’” the winner said. “I jumped out of my seat to show my wife.” She began jumping with joy, too.
The winner asked his wife and niece to go back to the store to scan the scratch-off and they did, confirming his Lottery luck. He plans to put every cent of his prize into savings. Asked about continuing to play Lottery games, the loyal player said, “I refuse to stop. This is how you get a rush at my age.”
The Lucky Times 10 game went on sale on Nov. 21, 2022. There is still one $100,000 top prize remaining along with one $50,000 prize, four $10,000 prizes and others that range from $10 to $1,000. The lucky retailer also shares in our winner’s fun. For selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the Exxon station earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
