Anne Arundel County man wins $50,000 top prize
All the 26-year-old contractor planned to do, he told Lottery officials, was pick up a few scratch-offs as part of a birthday present for his mom. The occasional player decided at the last second to add a couple of games for himself and one of those instant tickets, a $50,000 Cash game, happened to be a $50,000 top-prize winner.
“I really had no plan to buy a ticket for myself,” the Severn resident explained. “It was just a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing.” Scratching off his lucky instant ticket outside of Dash In #70792, he was stunned by the prize waiting for him. “I seriously thought for a minute that I was having a heart attack.”
The $20 game is unique among Maryland Lottery scratch-offs in the 160 top prizes it offered when it debuted in late December. This Anne Arundel County win leaves 96 top prizes still unclaimed. Management at the lucky Dash In located at 7845 Quarterfield Road in Severn will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling this latest top-prize winning ticket.
The Anne Arundel County winner is looking for a new house and said, “This $50,000 will really help my down payment fund.”
