Marrissa Carta of Virginia is $50,000 richer, thanks to her Money Explosion scratch-off win!
Claims $50,000 prize on game won while visiting family
It’s hardly uncommon for family members to gather at this time of year to celebrate graduations. What is unusual, and what doesn’t happen every day, is to return home from such a visit $50,000 richer. Such was the case for Marrissa Carta.
Marrissa, a resident of Fredericksburg, Virginia, came north to watch a family member receive her diploma. Before getting on the highway to head home after the festivities, she bought a $20 scratch-off at Food Lion #1412 located at 8508 Liberty Road in Randallstown.
“When I get one at home, it’s usually a $20 ticket,” said the 40-year-old wife and mother. “The $20 games have pretty big prizes.”
The game that Marrissa picked out was Money Explosion, a scratch-off that debuted last July. “When I saw the match that meant a $50,000 win, I was in disbelief.” As her husband examined the instant ticket and confirmed the win, Marrissa tells us that all she could think of was the wonderful timing of her brush with Lottery luck.
“A close family member has been out of work for a while,” she said. “What a blessing this is, to be able to help him through the tough times.”
Marrissa won a second-tier prize in this game, which still has three $1 million top prizes in circulation as well as two more $50,000 second-tier prizes and 46 $10,000 prizes.
