Lucky Baltimore County woman wins $29,313.30 on Superfecta Box bet
A Randallstown mother who was looking for a box of Cracker Jacks® at a gas station in Hanover found a far bigger prize playing Racetrax. Her horses galloped to a $29,313.30 Superfecta Box win!
A craving for Cracker Jacks last Sunday led to the Racetrax fan’s visit to Arundel Mills Exxon in Hanover in search of the tasty snack that comes with a prize. She looked but couldn’t find a box of the caramel popcorn mix on the shelves. The owner of the gas station also helped search for the treat and while he was looking high and low, the Baltimore County resident decided to play her favorite game.
She placed a Superfecta Box bet that the 8, 9, 10 and 12 horses would cross the finish line in the top four spots on any of five races. When the gas station owner came back to inform her that they indeed did not have any Cracker Jacks, the player forgot about her Racetrax game, put her $12 ticket away and drove home. She later checked her races but was disappointed because she thought she didn’t win.
“I thought I missed it,” said the winner. “I sent a picture of the ticket to my son to check but I really thought I didn’t win.”
“I looked at the ticket and checked online and was confused,” said the winner’s adult son, who accompanied her to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters. “I said, ‘What are you talking about, ma, you did win.’”
Her horses finished together in the 4th race to the tune of $29,313.30. The lucky player told Lottery officials that she plans to use some of the winnings toward two of her children’s upcoming weddings.
The big winner can thank Arundel Mills Exxon, located at 7043 Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover, for her Racetrax luck. For its role in selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more, the Lottery retailer will receive a bonus of $293.13 from the Lottery — equal to 1% of each prize.
