Silver Spring Contractor Unearths $250,000 Scratch-off Win

Becomes third top-prize winner on $250,000 Cash Winfall scratch-off

A Montgomery County man loves the “WINALL” moneybag symbol in the $250,000 Cash Winfall game because it helped him secure the instant ticket’s top prize of $250,000.

The home improvement contractor scratched off his $10 instant ticket and became confused. Each of his numbers appeared over $10,000 prizes, but none of the numbers matched the game’s five winning numbers. At first, he thought he had a non-winning scratch-off. The Silver Spring resident always scans instant tickets for verification and this time, the ticket checker revealed great news.

“I scanned it and it said that I won. I had to scan it again. I couldn’t believe it,” the $250,000 winner said with a huge smile. He hadn’t initially seen the “WINALL” words or moneybag symbol on his instant ticket, which means the player wins all 25 $10,000 prizes shown.

The father of two college students plans to use his windfall to pay bills and their college tuition. “I have been working hard to get where I am at and this definitely helps,” he said.

The lucky player bought the winning ticket at Glen Echo Pharmacy, located at 7311 MacArthur Boulevard in Bethesda. The Montgomery County retailer is also a big winner, receiving a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off of $100,000 to $1 million.

This is the third top-prize winner since the game went on sale on Feb. 19. Two prizes of $250,000 are still unclaimed, along with four $10,000 prizes and others ranging from $20 to $1,000.
