“Thankful-Thankful” was very grateful that a dream resulted in a $25,000 Pick 5 prize.
50-cent straight bet pays off in July 29 midday drawing
Many people dream of winning a big Maryland Lottery prize, but a Cockeysville resident used numbers from her sister’s dream to win a $25,000 Pick 5 prize.
The lucky lady said she is grateful for the win and dubbed herself “Thankful-Thankful” as she claimed the prize at Lottery Headquarters on Aug. 2.
The 68-year old woman said she often plays Pick 3, Pick 4 and Pick 5, using numbers that she sees in her dreams, but it was a set of numbers from a dream her sister told her about that led to the Pick 5 prize.
She explained that her sister had a dream that she was on a bus and the bus number in the dream was “23815.” After hearing the story, “Thankful-Thankful” decided to play those numbers on a 50-cent straight ticket in the July 29 midday drawing. After she scanned the ticket using the Lottery app on her phone, she saw she was a winner.
“I was excited. I saw nothing in my Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets, but when I checked the Pick 5 it was straight across. I couldn’t believe it,” Thankful-Thankful recalled, adding that the prize money will help to pay bills.
The Baltimore County resident is retired, and in addition to playing Lottery games, she said she also enjoys playing games on her phone such as Sudoku and FreeCell solitaire.
“I like to play those games to keep my mind busy,” she added.
She purchased the ticket at the Food Lion #1664 at 122 Cranbrook Road in Cockeysville, which will receive a $250 bonus from the Lottery for selling the lucky ticket.
