Player claims prize in FAST PLAY Home Run Riches game
An Owings Mills man who doesn’t routinely play Maryland Lottery games recently won $124,716 playing the FAST PLAY Home Run Riches progressive jackpot game. A spur-of-the-moment decision led to his big win.
The 45-year-old was purchasing dog food from Giant #2318 in Owings Mills when he looked over at the Lottery vending machine and thought, “Why not play?” So, he did!
“I took my change and bought two of the $5 Home Run Riches FAST PLAY games,” he said. “I like them because you don’t have to scratch them.”
The Whole Foods manager took the tickets home with him and checked them after dinner with his wife. “I looked at the ticket and the first number, “7”, was a match and it said, ‘Progressive jackpot’ underneath,” he said. The winner recalls thinking, “This just can’t be real.”
His wife confirmed the win by scanning the ticket using the Maryland Lottery app on her phone. The Baltimore County residents already knew the size of the prize because, in FAST PLAY progressive jackpot games, the current progressive jackpot is printed on the ticket. The lucky progressive jackpot winner Googled what to do next and followed instructions to make an appointment to claim his prize.
The father of two adult children shared that he has no initial plans for enjoying his brush with good fortune. “I’m just going to put in the bank and save it,” he said. The player is the third to win a prize in the Home Run Riches game, which still has 17 progressive jackpots remaining. The progressive jackpot starts at $40,000 and grows with the sale of each ticket until someone buys the progressive jackpot-winning ticket.
Our lucky FAST PLAY winner isn’t the only one who has reason to celebrate. Giant #2318 located at 10210 Mill Run Circle will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the progressive jackpot-winning ticket.
