Prince George’s County resident is first Bonus Match 5 winner of 2024
A Lanham woman was happy to kick off 2024 with a $50,000 win playing Bonus Match 5. The lucky lady said she knew she won something when she glanced at her ticket from the Jan. 3 drawing.
“When I started to check my ticket, I saw that I had the first two numbers. As I continued to check it, I saw I had all five numbers,” said the happy Prince George’s County resident.
The winning numbers for that drawing were 9, 12, 18, 31 and 35; the Bonus Ball was 37.
The retiree, who used to select her own numbers but never had much luck, won using the quick-pick method on Jan. 3. “My favorite numbers never came out so I decided to start using quick pick a few weeks ago. I am glad I did,” she said with a huge smile.
The retired government worker, who enjoys line dancing in her spare time, plans to use the money to pay bills and will share the rest of the prize with her family. She purchased the winning ticket at Safeway #0107 at 7595 Greenbelt Road in Prince George’s County. The Greenbelt retailer receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket.
