The Week in Winners: $1 Million Powerball Win in Rockville Leads List of Big Lottery Prizes

Players across Maryland won more than $33.1 million during week ending Jan. 9

Maryland Lottery players continued to land big prizes last week, as the $632.6 million Powerball jackpot was won on tickets sold in California and Wisconsin. A Powerball player in Rockville won a $1 million prize and three other Powerball players in the state each won $50,000. Meanwhile, scratch-offs delivered a $250,000 prize in Bethesda and three $100,000 prizes in Knoxville, Bladensburg and Hyattsville.

In all, 35 players across the state won or claimed prizes of $10,000 or more, and the Lottery paid more than $33.1 million in prizes in the seven days ending Jan. 9.

Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to cash tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
