Players across the state won more than $28.3 million during week ending Aug. 27
As the Powerball jackpot rolled to $363 million, a player in Catonsville won a $50,000 third-tier prize, joining the ranks of Maryland’s big winners for the week.
The Powerball jackpot has been growing since July 20 when a ticket sold in California matched all six numbers for a $1.08 billion win. During this time, five Maryland players have won $50,000 prizes. In addition to last week’s win in Catonsville, the other $50,000 tickets were sold in Clinton, North East, Pasadena and Severna Park. The Catonsville and Pasadena tickets remain unclaimed as of Aug. 28. The Powerball jackpot for the Aug. 28 drawing is $363 million with a cash option of $174.7 million.
Four other players, one each in Accokeek, Oxon Hill, Pasadena, and White Marsh won $50,000 prizes on other games, and the week’s big winner claimed a $100,000 prize on scratch-off ticket purchased in Takoma Park.
In all, 25 Lottery tickets worth $10,000 or more were sold or redeemed in the seven days ending Aug. 27, and the Lottery paid more than $28.3 million in prizes during that span.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes of up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets up to and including $600. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
