Lottery wins last week totaled more than $33.1 million, with 37 tickets worth $10,000 or more
The big $1.22 billion Mega Millions prize may have been won in California, but Maryland saw 11 winners of $10,000 or more from the multi-state jackpot game in the past week, as well as a $1 million winner in Towson on a scratch-off ticket, and 10 winning Pick 5 tickets worth a half a million dollars, all sold Dec. 23 at the same store in Glen Burnie.
The 11 big Mega Millions wins came in Bethesda, Bowie (2), Brooklyn Park, Columbia, Dundalk (2), Eldersburg, Elkridge, Glen Burnie and Lexington Park.
Across Maryland, and across all games, the Lottery paid more than $33.1 million in prizes during the week of Dec. 23-29, including 37 tickets worth $10,000 or more that were sold or redeemed in that seven-day span.
Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing. FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after purchase. The last date to claim for scratch-offs is posted on the scratch-offs page.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at the cashier window of any of the six casinos in Maryland. Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations.
