Waldorf man claims $150,000 prize on Powerball quick-pick ticket with Power Play
About three times a week, a Charles County man makes a trip to his favorite Lottery retailer and plays either Mega Millions or Powerball. He’s no stranger to big Lottery wins, having scored prizes twice on back-to-back $30 Pick 4 bets. This time, he won on a Powerball quick-pick ticket with Power Play that tripled his third-tier prize to $150,000.
The Waldorf resident visited NSR Mart / Corner Xpress located at 7756 Leonardtown Road in Hughesville. He played three games in the Nov. 11 drawing, letting the terminal quick pick numbers for two of the three games. But he didn’t stop there. The loyal player upped the ante by adding the $1 Power Play and $1 Double Play options to the games to increase his potential winnings.
He learned the next day that he was a winner when he went back to the retailer to scan his $12 ticket. When he saw the “See Lottery” message, the player immediately called his wife to share news of Lottery luck. Matching four white balls and the Powerball earns him an initial $50,000 payday. The added Power Play option increased his earnings.
The winner has worked in logistics for 29 years and enjoys buying and selling vintage cars. He says he has no plans for his prize other than paying off credit card balances. He scored the 54th third-tier winning Powerball ticket sold in Maryland in 2024.
