Claims $1 million prize on $2 bet in Jan. 22 drawing
We found our million-dollar winner!
The longest jackpot roll in Mega Millions history came to an end on Friday, Jan. 22, and although the $1 billion jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Michigan, a Maryland Lottery player also had a million reasons to smile.
Her $1 million winning ticket, purchased at Cranberry Liquors in Westminster, matched five of the winning numbers in the drawing to capture the second-tier prize. Our lucky Carroll County millionaire let the terminal quick-pick her numbers on the $2 ticket. The 47-year-old matched the first five numbers drawn on Jan. 22: 4, 26, 42, 50 and 60 but missed the Mega ball, which was 24. She was one of 10 $1 million winners in the country for the historic drawing.
Her Carroll County retailer also has many reasons to celebrate. Cranberry Liquors located at 405 North Center Street received a $2,500 bonus for selling the second-tier ticket.
Players still have time to get tickets for the Friday, Feb. 12 drawing. The Mega Millions jackpot is set at $82 million and the cash option is $59.9 million.
Mega Millions tickets are sold in 47 states and jurisdictions. Odds of winning a $1 million prize are 1 in 12 million, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.
